stion posed in natural language. After a review of history and state-of-art of
QA systems, in this talk I will introduce the DeepQA project at IBM that aims
to illustrate how the wide and growing accessibility of natural language cont
ent and the integration and advancement of Natural Language Processing, Inform
ation Retrieval, Machine Learning, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, and
massively parallel computation can drive open-domain automatic Question Answe
ring technology to a point where it clearly and consistently rivals the best h
uman performance. 潘越，1998年加入IBM中国研究院工作至今，现任资深研究员、信息与知识研究部
资深经理，同时也是上海交通大学兼职研究员、博士生导师，ACM，IEEE和CCF会员，以及
YOCSEF委员。先后主持过跨语言检索(Native Search)、中文知识门户技术(Chinese Know
ledge Portal)、市场情报门户(Market Intelligence Portal)、集成本体开发工具包(In
tegrated Ontology Development Toolkit)等项目的研究开发。在国际会议和期刊上发表
论文几十篇，并获得多项专利。曾两次获IBM研究部门成果奖，一次杰出技术成就奖，并有
一项专利获得IBM追加发明专利奖。他是2007-2008年被选入IBM THINK的唯一来自中国乃至
亚洲的研究人员。他目前的研究兴趣包括知识的表示和推理、语义Web、信息集成、检索和
问答系统、医学信息学等等。1996年中国科学院自动化研究所毕业，获博士学位。曾就职
于信息产业部信息化工程总体研究中心。 |
