报告一: Discovering Interesting Exception Rules with Rule Pair 报告人: Professor Einoshin Suzuki 时间地点: 10月24日,14:30-15:30, 蒙民伟楼404会议室 Abstract: In this talk, I would like to talk about our endeavor for discoverin g interesting exception rules with the rule pair as the pattern representation . Rule discovery in data mining is prone to output a huge number of rules, mos t of which are uninteresting. In 1996, to circumvent the problem, I proposed a pattern representation which corresponds to a pair of a general rule and its exception rule. Interestingly, the representation captures a kind of interesti ngness through its form and a manageable number of patterns are discovered des pite of its large number of freedom. I will especially talk about how to deriv e an analytical solution to distinguish patterns from noise, pruning technique s to keep the computational time practical, and validation with a medical data set in which a physician is involved in evaluating patterns produced by a pur ely objective method. 报告二: Mining Chronic Hepatitis Data in Active Mining Project 报告人: Professor Einoshin Suzuki 时间地点: 10月25日,14:30-15:30, 蒙民伟楼404会议室 Abstract: In this talk, I would like to talk about our endeavor for mining chr onic hepatitis data in the active mining project, which was funded by MEXT, Ja pan. The project, headed by Prof. Motoda, lasted 4 years and I served as one t he 10 representatives. The data were provided by Chiba University Hospital and posed us various challenges including setting the objective of the analysis. We began by proposing time-series decision tree for liver cirrhosis prediction then developed PrototypeLines for visualizing medical tests of a patient. Fin ally, our spiral exception discovery approach revealed interesting findings wi th the help of physicians and automatically re-discovered a tendency which had been reported in a medical journal. 简历: Einoshin Suzuki received his degrees from the University of Tokyo in 19 88 (Bachelor of Engineering), in 1990 (Master of Engineering), and in 1993 (Do ctor of Engineering).
